A reflection of ASU’s reputation for innovation, the course is a precursor to the material you’ll learn in the online and onsite Master of Science in Business Analytics, onsite Master of Science in Information Systems Management, onsite Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence in Business, Online MBA and Evening MBA and allows you to earn a qualified professional credential and your masters degree.
Students learn a foundational understanding of contextualized analytics within the business enterprise continuum by covering how data flows and is managed across enterprise business processes. It is designed for working professionals with some exposure to the technology or data area. This course is offered 100% online and is part of the W. P. Carey Certificate in Business Analytics.

About this course
Databases and data warehouses form the foundation of virtually every modern enterprise data analytics system. The database keeps records of the organization's highly structured operational activities (e.g., personnel, inventory, sales, marketing), and the data warehouse supports the strategic managerial analysis of complex business decision problems (e.g., new product introduction, plant expansion, off-shoring, stock offerings).
With a well-designed and intelligently implemented data management system, the organization can solve complex data analytics problems. This course introduces the students to the key concepts and practices in database and data warehouse, including constructing data models and the basics of query and reporting using query language and visual analytics software.
This class is also part of the W. P. Carey Certificate in Business Analytics. The certificate can either be completed on its own for no academic credit or applied credit to the following options (upon enrollment): online and onsite Master of Science in Business Analytics, onsite Master of Science in Information Systems Management, onsite Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence in Business, Online MBA and Evening MBA.
