Develop the skills to plan and perform audits, evaluate internal controls, and apply data-driven techniques used in today’s audit environment. Importantly, the course also develops a mindset of professional skepticism that is increasingly critical in the age of AI—where more financial information is generated with automated tools, and human judgment is essential to critically evaluate and oversee that information.

The Audit course provides a comprehensive introduction to the auditing profession, its responsibilities, and the methodologies used to evaluate financial statements and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). Learners will gain insight into the role auditors play in enhancing the reliability of financial information, as well as the value audits bring to organizations and stakeholders. The course explores key aspects of the profession, including career pathways, the business of auditing, and the importance of auditor independence.

In addition, the course emphasizes the practical application of auditing methods and tools. Learners will develop skills in audit planning, risk assessment, and the use of the audit risk model, while gaining hands-on understanding of procedures such as analytical review, testing of controls, and substantive testing of details and disclosures. The curriculum also introduces audit data analytics (ADA) and its growing role in modern audits. By the end of the course, learners will be prepared to evaluate financial reporting and ICFR, perform key audit procedures, and contribute to the issuance of audit reports—providing a strong foundation upon which to build toward graduate accounting studies and preparation for the Uniform CPA Examination.
