Overview
Sources of Competitive Advantage (MGT 588) will introduce you to the fundamentals of competitive advantage, including how firms use a variety of resources to pursue goals and respond to dynamic and complex environments. Examining how top leaders seek to outperform their competitors, this course will employ multiple frameworks for deciding strategic actions while introducing the challenges that accompany strategic decisions. You will improve your own strategic thinking through the foundations of strategic competitiveness and develop the ability to analyze the competitive environment facing a firm, assess the attractiveness of the industry, and identify potential sources of competitive advantage in an organization. Through readings, lectures, and assignments, you’ll develop an understanding of how managers determine strategic direction and lead the strategy process.
